GPS Quality & Outlier Filtering for Ride Tracks

GPS spikes can distort route shape and speed. BMSDock classifies recorded points as good, suspect or outlier so you can review cleaner map geometry without rewriting the source log.

Good, suspect and outlier points

  • Good points follow the expected route progression
  • Suspect points are kept visible for review when quality is uncertain
  • Outliers can be hidden from the displayed route to reduce obvious spikes
  • The original source rows remain unchanged

Why filtering matters

  • A single bad coordinate can draw a long line across the map
  • GPS jumps can create unrealistic instantaneous speed values
  • Quality classification makes it easier to distinguish sensor noise from actual movement
  • The GPS Quality map mode lets you inspect the decision visually

Use it with supported track formats

  • GPX and FIT tracks can provide GPS route data
  • VESC and BMSDock logs can also be reviewed when coordinates are present
